Mercury Pick Up and Disposal

Although GP surgeries are now moving away from mercury equipment (for example mercury sphygmomanometers), they are still in use in many surgeries or are tucked away in cupboards gathering dust.

The very fact that there is mercury in a surgery means that there is a risk of mercury spillage. This could happen whilst with a patient, cleaning a cupboard out or transporting equipment. According to the COSHH regulations, wherever there is mercury, suitable equipment must be available to clear up a mercury spillage.

What if you don’t use your piece of equipment anymore or it is broken? Obviously mercury sphygmomanometers and other mercury devices cannot be thrown in the bin. It is important that they are disposed of correctly and in accordance with UK waste legislation. We now offer a mercury disposal service which allows for the collection and disposal of your unwanted devices.

We offer a pick up and disposal service for both 'Broken' and 'Unbroken' mercury items. It is simple, quick and easy to book.

Simply choose your number of mercury items based on your requirements and add it to your basket - once we receive your order we will be in touch to arrange your pick up. Alternatively, call us on 01865 261451 if you have any questions or prefer to order by phone.

Should you require a mercury spill kit to clean up a spill or to have on site for remaining mercury, we sell Mercury Spill Kits for Soft and Hard Surfaces.
