An Audiometer is a machine used for testing hearing acuity. They typically consist of an embedded hardware unit connected to a pair of headphones and a feedback button, sometimes controlled by a PC.
A Tympanometer is used to test the mobility of the eardrum and to test the condition of the middle ear. It probes the ear canal and changes the pressure in the ear, generates a pure tone, and measures the eardrum responses to the sound at different pressures.
